The airport that is closest to the retreat center is La Aurora International Airport.

When do I need to arrive at the airport in order to catch the shuttle going to the retreat center?

Arrival must be on Jan 30th by 12 pm at the La Aurora International Airport. The shuttle leaves promptly at 1 pm from the airport.

Where will shuttling be offered from?

Directly from the airport. When we get closer to the date, I will release a designated location to all confirmed registered participants.

Do I have to take the shuttle from the airport?

You are not required to take the shuttle from the airport at any point to or from the retreat center. The transportation is included as a service for all guests to utilize as a support to their travels. If you decide to not take the shuttle, you must make plans to arrive at the retreat center by Jan 30th, no later than 7 pm. Our first offering of the retreat begins early on Jan 31st.

How far is the trip from the airport to the retreat center?

YOUR STAY

Officially, How long is the retreat?

Your room/bed is available to you for 8 nights and 7 days. We aim to arrive at the retreat center by 5 pm on January 30th. Your room will be available to you from the moment we arrive, however, food and drink will not. All inclusive package items begin officially on the beginning of January 31st and end on February 6th. Check out will be on the next day on February 7th.

Why are arrivals on January 30th?

Arrival day is set for January 30th so that everyone may arrive at the retreat center with time to settle, ground, and acclimate into their space before we begin the full retreat experience on January 31st.

What time do we begin on the first day of the retreat?

On the first day of the retreat we will be led by 3 Mayan Elders in a fire ceremony to bless our way and to help us begin to root into the sacredness of where we stand, and what we are here to do. The ceremony will be held at sunrise, which begins around 6 am. We request that you are awake and up no later than 5:30 a.m to get ready to shift into the ceremonial space. We understand that an early wake up call after travel is a big request. However, we have been instructed that this will be the most powerful time to send up our prayers and intentions. Not to fret, following the ceremony we will all eat breakfast and have a big break to digest, rest, and nap. Following our break we will resume with a meeting circle to drop in gently with our breath and body, and to introduce ourselves to one another and declare our intentions out loud. Following this will be more delicious food and rest time for the remainder of the evening. We will be well fed, nourished and recharged with plenty of down time for our next day of dance and movement.

What time is check-out?

Check out is at 11 am on February 7th. All guests, whether they are taking the shuttle back to La Aurora International Airport or staying in Guatemala for continued travel, must be packed and ready to leave the retreat site by 11 am. Any guests who have decided they would like to stay more nights at the retreat center are welcome to stay for as long as they have arranged for.

Will the meals be organic and offer options for vegan, gluten free, etc?

Every guest will receive 3 organic meals and drinks per day for the retreat made by a talented and skilled team of cooks at the retreat center. Dietary preferences and restrictions will be taken into consideration to make sure that everyone enjoys their meals for each day of the retreat.

What is the weather like in late January/February?

The average minimum temperature (usually the minimum temperature is noted during the night) in Lake Atitlan in January is 12.4°C (54.32°F). The amount of rain in January is extremely low, making it the driest month of the year. The average maximum daytime temperature lies around 25.7°C (78.26°F).

What should I pack to wear to the retreat?

Clothing: We recommend you bring mostly clothing that will be comfortable to be dressed in during warm days, but also plan to bring some warm items for the night time when the temperature will drop. Also, because we are an embodiment retreat we recommend you bring anything that will be easy to move and dance in.

Shoes: Sandals and sneakers are good choices to bring. For our group hike up Cerro Papa, you will perhaps want sneakers or hiking boots that will support you during our journey.

Self care products: We ask that any personal hygiene products you bring, including any sunscreen and lotions, be environmentally friendly and biodegradable. The retreat center is committed to using products and practices that are in alignment with creating little harm to the natural world around us. Of course, in the world we live in today, there is only so much we can do, but we ask that you join us in this commitment to make the best decisions and purchases that we can when it comes to using products that will seep into the natural world.

Personal items: We suggest bringing a notebook and pen to journal throughout your experience. Feel free to bring any personal/ritual items that you use for prayer, and that serve to help keep you grounded and connected to self/spirit/ancestors.
